Empowering Villages in Indonesia through Technology
To mobilize and maximize Village Assistant's efficiency and capacity for improved quality of life in the rural areas.
Background
World Bank is highly interested in Indonesia's goal to reduce poverty and reverse inequality. Rural areas need to keep up with infrastructure and social development as a race against shocks from natural disasters and climate change.
Indonesia's dynamic digital economy—driven by its young tech-savvy population and infrastructure investments in expanding the fiber backbone and reducing Internet costs to all regions—provides a unique opportunity to bridge the "digital divide" between urban and rural areas and to increase the efficiency of services delivered to Indonesia's rural villages. Therefore, there is a need to monitor and track the progress of rural area development and village empowerment to ensure proper resources and funding are met.
The Challenge:
Through research, we identified the significant amount of administrative tasks a Village Assistant needs to go through when empowering villages i.e. setting up reports, getting leadership approval etc. These tasks removes their main focus on empowering village communities. How might we find a contextual and relevant solution for Village Assistants to seamlessly adopt and alleviate these administrative tasks?

The features
Task Management
1. Weekly Agenda
Allowing Village Assistants to organize their weekly tasks objectively. Recommended tasks are formulated from a few variables ranging from mandatory tasks assigned from the Ministry of Villages, pending tasks from previous weeks, or additional tasks to input manually.
2. The Diary
Managing daily tasks that have been pre-planned, mandatory or ad-hoc in nature. The diary empowers Village Assistants to document and report tasks through photos, updating the task status, and blockers they face.
Reporting
3. Incentivized Recaps
At the end of each week, Village Assistants will get statistics on their performance; the number of tasks completed, types of tasks and matching the tasks with their KPIs.
4. Automated Monthly Reporting
Through distributed and daily documentation in the Diary, there is no longer a need to compile a formal report manually. All documentations are automatically compiled to produce an Individual Report and Program Report that could directly be submitted for approval to their supervisors, provincial leads, and the Ministry of Village.

Performance
5. Village Assistant Profiling
Reviews the performance of Village Assistance through data visualization showing tasks completion, quality of work, KPIs achieved and others. These records can keep Village Assistants accountable for the work and their growth progression.
6. The Dashboard
In order to ensure visibility and acknowledgement from the supervisors, the Dashboard surfaces up all the documentation, reports, and profile of the Village Assistants. Supervisors can also assign tasks, approve / reject submissions, and assess Village Assistant's performance. With access approval, the Dashboard could also be viewed on a HQ level, to give visibility on progress of each village in real time.
